Biography
Stephen is a Partner in the Planning & Infrastructure Consenting team. He oversees the Bristol planning practice and leads the firm’s Energy consenting team. Stephen specialises in the development of renewable energy projects and major infrastructure.
Stephen is advising the promoters of some of the largest projects in the UK. He advises extensively on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and Developments of National Significance (DNS) in Wales. Stephen has particular expertise in promoting onshore wind farms, solar farms, grid infrastructure and battery storage.
Stephen is a member of Solar Energy UK’s Planning and Land Use Group.
Relevant experience
- Private solar developers: currently advising on the promotion of a number of solar NSIPs.
- Private solar developers: acting as advocate at the DNS hearings for two solar farms, both consented (for Island Green Power and Voltalia UK Limited).
- Private renewable energy developer: advising on the proposed repowering of an onshore wind farm in England.
- Private onshore wind developer: advising a number of developers on their proposed onshore wind projects in Wales (all DNS), including the promotion of a 132kv overhead line proposal.
- Private developer: promoting a number of Transport and Works Act Orders, one of which is for a new marina and hotel complex.
