Charles has retired after a 30+ year legal career supporting businesses across a range of employment matters. If you have any employment queries that you would normally have contacted Charles about, please get in touch with our head of employment Stephen Moore. You can also find out more about our wider employment team and the services we provide on our employment page.
Charles was experienced in helping clients deal with all aspects of the employment relationship, and also in the application of TUPE to all types of transaction in the private and public sectors.
Charles worked with a wide range of clients, including international software and manufacturing companies, investment houses, utility companies and local authorities, on all kinds of employment and HR issues. He had a specific expertise in dealing with TUPE issues on service outsourcing and business sales, the preparation of Service Agreements for Directors and senior employees, collective consultation processes on redundancy, and exit packages and Settlement Agreements.
Charles took pride in the strong relationships he built with clients, some of which lasted for over 20 years. Clients said: "He has very strong relationship-building skills and is proactive in terms of client needs and thinking forward".
Charles was recognised as a leading figure in the employment field by both the Legal 500 and the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, where he was praised for his "pragmatic approach to business" and his ability to "jargon-bust the law, putting it in layman's terms and translating it into a context that [clients] can understand."
