Biography

Ed is a partner in the Banking and Finance team at Ashfords.

Ed advises both lenders and borrowers on a broad range of finance transactions. He specialises in corporate banking, acquisition and leveraged finance, and venture debt, as well as real estate finance work. Ed also has extensive experience of asset backed finance and energy and infrastructure financings.

Ed trained at a magic circle firm in the City before moving to another firm in Bristol, and joined Ashfords in 2019.

Relevant experience

  • Advising St James Place plc, the FTSE100 listed wealth manager, on various matters, including acting as drafting counsel on their £340m syndicated RCF;
  • Acting for Lloyds in relation to loans provided to a manufacturing business to enable them to enter into an EOT;
  • Advising IQE Plc, the leading supplier of compound semiconductor wafer products, in relation to their $35m revolving credit facility with HSBC;
  • Acting on numerous venture debt transactions, both for lenders and borrowers, including Form3’s £20m facility with Atempo;
  • Advising a major multinational client on the English law elements of a US$1.85 billion refinancing; 
  • Advising Ashford Borough Council in respect of a major redevelopment of the Newtown Works site in Ashford, Kent, including a c.£70m development finance facility
