Biography

Zoe is a Solicitor in the property disputes team having qualified in March 2023. Zoe deals with a wide variety of disputes including boundary/neighbour disputes, landlord and tenant matters and provides advice regarding The Building Safety Act 2022. 

Zoe regularly works with social housing providers, councils and private landlords in relation to landlord and tenant matters, in particular housing disrepair, possession and Environmental Protection Act claims. Zoe also has experience in relation to breach of lease claims and injunctions. 

Zoe has also been assisting with matters in relation to The Building Safety Act 2022 regarding the landlord certification process.

Zoe obtained a first class law degree with the University of Plymouth, before joining Ashfords as a paralegal in 2018. Zoe worked in the Property Disputes team for 3 years before starting her training contract with Ashfords.

Zoe has been recognised in the Legal 500 in relation to social housing.

Zoe is a committee member of Ashfords’ XYBC and is regularly involved in organising and hosting events for young professionals in the Exeter area.

Relevant experience

  • Local Council: obtaining an injunction order in relation to breach of lease and obtaining costs and a provision for further damages if required.
  • Local Authority: defending claims for housing disrepair and statutory nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • Private individual: assisting a partner with a complex cohabitation dispute.
  • Private individual: defending and advising on a boundary dispute claim.
  • Private individual: advising in relation to a new tenancy to be granted.
  • Private housing provider: advising and obtaining possession order in relation to individuals with high level rent arrears and advising on subsequent debt claim to recover the rent arrears.
  • Private landlords: assisting and advising in relation to The Building Safety Act 2022 with regard to the landlord certification process.
